Township Government Updates

The Township Committee congratulates James Chiariello and Sean Ferrari on their promotions to Bordentown Township Police Sergeants.

Gowers Inc was awarded a contract to install an irrigation system for the new soccer fields at Joseph Lawrence Park.  

Work is expected to begin shortly on the 2023 Road Improvement Program. This program consists of improvements to Arlington Road, Orchard Lane, Shady Lane, Thorntown Lane, Vine Way and drainage repairs to Van Drive as well as other miscellaneous roadway improvements.

The Committee endorsed an initiative to delay the first cutting of lawns to protect overwintering organisms, feed early-awakening pollinators and conserve water. This initiative called Low Mow May. Residents are encouraged to delay the first cutting of their lawns and then to keep their lawns at a at a slightly higher height. More information here!

A presentation was given by Administrator Michael Theokas on the 2024 Municipal Budget. The presentation provided background information about municipal budgeting, the year’s challenges, revenue sources, expenditures, township services, and the proposed tax impact. The budget will be formally introduced at the April 8 Township Committee meeting. A synopsis of the budget will then be published in the Burlington County Time. The budget will be available for public viewing at the Township Clerk’s office. The Township Auditor will present budget history and context at the April 22 Township Committee Meeting. Finally, a public hearing on the budget will be held at the May 13 meeting to be followed by a consideration of adoption. Any questions regarding the budget should be addressed to Administrator Theokas or Chief Financial Officer Laurie Finger.

The next Township Committee meeting will be held on Monday, April 8. The meeting opens to the public at 7:30 PM following a possible closed executive session.
