Township Government Update

The Township welcomes Debra Latshaw-Adams to the Township as the new Deputy Chief Financial Officer. Debra will be starting in mid-May and comes to the Township from Neptune, New Jersey.

At the April 8 Township Committee meeting, Mayor Fuzy issued two proclamations. The first encouraged recognition of Earth Day and Arbor Day. The second recognized Dylan Potavin as an Eagle Scout! Congratulation Dylan!

The 2024 Municipal Budget has been introduced. To learn more about the budget, you are invited to review the financial documents posted on the website which include the budget presentation made at the March 25 meeting as well as the budget document, user friendly budget and a the budget synopsis which will be published in the Burlington County Times. At the April 22 meeting, the Township Auditor will make a presentation to provide context for the budget and historical trends. A public hearing on the budget will be held at the May 13, 2024. Following the hearing, the Township Committee will consider adopting the 2024 budget. Any questions regarding the budget should be addressed to Administrator Theokas or Chief Financial Officer Laurie Finger.

The New Municipal Complex project is moving along. Bid documents for the building’s construction are to be issued in the beginning of May. Updates to the building project are available here.

The Environmental Commissions Low Mow May initiative is underway. The Township will be participating in a few areas including around the Community Garden. Signs promoting the initiative with a QR code that can be used to access more information will be posted on the participating Township properties. Delaying the first mow of the season and keeping grass a bit longer protects overwintering organisms, feeds early-awakening pollinators and conserves water.  

Curbing and sidewalk work for the 2023 Road Improvement Program is staring. The 2023 Road Improvement Program consists of milling and resurfacing Arlington Road, Orchard Lane, Shady Lane, Thorntown Lane, Van Drive and Vine Way along with other miscellaneous roadway improvements. The milling and repaving work will start after the school year ends.

The installation of an irrigation system for the Gutterson soccer fields at Joseph Lawrence Park will start this month.

Taxes for the 2nd Quarter of 2024 are due on May 1. Payment must be received by Friday, May 10 to avoid interest charges.

Town Hall will begin SUMMER HOURS after Memorial Day. Starting on Tuesday, May 28, the township administrative offices will open at 8AM each weekday. The offices will close at 4:45 PM on Mondays through Thursdays and at 12 noon on Fridays. These hours will continue, on a trial basis, until the end of the calendar year.

The next Township Committee meeting will be held on Monday, April 22. The meeting opens to the public at 7:30 PM following a possible closed executive session.
