Summer in Bordentown has been busy! The Township again wants to thank everyone who volunteered and participated in the annual Fireworks Display especially the Foundation Bordentown Traditions.

The new Municipal Complex is coming! Award was made to Ernest Bock & Sons for the construction of the complex. Documents are being finalized and preparations are being made. We expect site preparation to begin early this fall! The new building is being built just behind the current municipal building on Municipal Drive. Staff will continue to work in the current building with additional parking being provided across the street. To assure school safety and to assist the school district during these difficult budget times, the Township agreed to continue to dedicate officers to serve as a School Resource Office and a Class 3 Special Law Enforcement Officer for the 2024-2025 school year at the same reimbursement rate as the previous year.
At the August meeting, the Police Department will appoint two new officers! Tamara Bivens will join the force from the Pemberton Township Police Department and Jaida Ortiz will first complete the Police Academy before joining the department.

The Township Committee said good bye to Chief Financial Officer and Certified Tax Collector Laurie Finger. We wish Laurie the very best on her retirement after 39 years of public service which she ended here in Bordentown Township. Deputy CFO Debra Latshaw-Adams is now the Chief Financial Officer and Pamela Lewis has been appointed as Certified Tax Collector. Laurie is leaving the finance office in capable hands!
Roadway projects continue throughout the Township! Groveville Road from Route 206 to Northern Community Park is complete and the remaining road portion will soon be awarded. The 2023 Road Improvement Program is underway with some slight modifications due to the need to coordinate with PSE&G’s gas line replacement. Arlington Road, Orchard Lane and Van Drive are still scheduled for repaving; however, instead of Shady Lane, Thorntown Lane and Vine Way, the following will be repaved in the coming weeks: Adirondack Drive, Windsor Lane and Stanton Avenue (from Route 207 to Amboy).
Coming soon to Northern Community Park will be a beautiful butter fly garden to be built by Girl Scout Troop #20153!
In the last few months Mayor Fuzy has recognized many residents and events including recognizing May as Older Americans Month, declaring June 4 as Abbott Day, proclaiming June as Pride Month, commemorating the Juneteenth holiday, celebrating newly promoted Eagle Scout Evan Abreau. The mayor also awarded certificates to Girl Scout Troup #21349 for completing their Bronze Award at a Committee meeting in June. Each proclamation is posted on the Township website for full viewing. Join the Mayor at his next informal Mayor Citizen Meeting will be held on September 20 at 7 PM at the Senior Community Center at 3 Municipal Drive.
